Designed by Pierre Jeanneret for the Central Library of Punjab Engineering College in Chandigarh, this chest of drawers retains its original institutional stencil, PEC/CH/LIBRARY/501/III, intact after more than sixty years of library use.

Chests of drawers are among the rarest forms to emerge from the Chandigarh program, produced in considerably smaller numbers than seating and desk furniture. This example is further distinguished by its Central Library provenance and fully legible institutional stencil.

Constructed entirely in solid teak, the piece features five drawers: two narrow side-by-side at the top, followed by three full-width drawers of equal depth below. Each drawer is fitted with a circular cutout pull routed directly into the drawer face. The compass A-frame legs are visible to the rear.

The teak has developed a warm, dense patina consistent with its age and origin. Offered as found. Lightly cleaned and unrestored.
