Composition Tonale No. 4

Composition Tonale No. 4 transforms pure geometry into a meditation on depth and shadow. Concentric arcs of heavy card stock are precision-cut and mounted in layers, each gradation of gray stepping inward toward a deep black core. The result is a sculptural play of tonal shifts, where light and perspective alter the visual rhythm with every glance.

Rooted in the Bauhaus tradition of color and form studies, this work also nods to Op Art’s exploration of perception and Minimalism’s disciplined restraint. The black frame intensifies the contrast, allowing the circular relief to hover like a modern eclipse against its ground. At 30” x 30”, it is both intimate and commanding—a piece that bridges fine art and design history.
