Bouclé takes its name from the French for looped, and the size of the loop decides everything about the fabric. Make the loop small and the texture becomes finer and more even. Both fabrics here work at that smaller size. What sets them apart is regularity: one is deliberately uneven, the other is knit tight and uniform.

In Micro Bouclé the loops are small and tight, a fraction of the size of the loops in a chunky bouclé. From a few feet away you see texture; up close you see the individual loops on an uneven, high-low surface. Blended yarns keep some variation in the color so it never goes completely flat. It is soft and warm to sit on without the bulk of a heavier bouclé. The polyester in the blend is there for strength: 54% cotton and 46% polyester, tested to withstand 30,000 double rubs.

Irregularity is part of the appeal of many bouclés. Some pieces call for an even surface instead. Performance Bouclé is tightly knit and uniform, its face consistently smooth and plush with little visible variation from one area to the next. A 100% polyester performance bouclé upholstery fabric tested to withstand 45,000 double rubs.
