Designed by Pierre Jeanneret for the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, India, this five-hole file rack is an authenticated example of model PJ-R-27. It retains its original institutional stencil, PGIMER/M.LAB/82/II, intact after more than sixty years of institutional use.

Crafted entirely in solid teak, the piece features five open compartments for files, documents, and books. Its side panels extend to form the legs, a construction detail characteristic of the Chandigarh program: structurally considered, functional, and resolved without ornamentation.

The teak has developed a warm, dense patina that speaks to the object’s age, use, and origin. Offered as found, with wear consistent with its history. Lightly cleaned and unrestored.
