Designed by Pierre Jeanneret for the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, this low bookcase retains its original institutional stencil, PGIMER/M.LAB/64/II, intact after more than sixty years of institutional use.

Constructed entirely in solid teak, the piece features six open compartments arranged across the full width of the case: four uniform central bays flanked by one wider compartment at each end. The side panels extend to the floor to form the legs, while a low plinth base spans the full width of the piece.

The teak has developed a warm, dense patina consistent with its age and origin. Offered as found. Lightly cleaned and unrestored.
