Designed by Pierre Jeanneret for the residential buildings of Panjab University in Chandigarh, this student desk is an example of the X-leg writing table produced for the university's hostel program. Its original blue-painted top remains intact, carrying layers of wear, paint loss, handwritten notes, names, equations, and drawings from decades of student use.

Constructed in solid teak, the desk features an unpainted X-leg base with a lower stretcher shelf. Room inventory markings, including R-98, HT34, HN 1R, and R5, remain visible across the painted top and frame.

The surface is central to the piece's character: a working academic object transformed over time into a record of institutional life. Offered as found. Lightly cleaned and unrestored. The written blue surface is preserved intact.
