Designed by Pierre Jeanneret for Panjab University in Chandigarh, this writing desk retains its original institutional stencil, PU/PHY/119, indicating its placement within the university's Physics Department.

Constructed entirely in solid teak, the desk is built around a floating top connected to the pedestal by a central teak support. One end is supported by an X-leg frame with a floor stretcher, while the other adjoins an integrated pedestal unit. The pedestal is dual-sided: one side contains four stacked drawers, each fitted with a circular cutout routed directly into the drawer face; the reverse side contains a single-door storage compartment with a matching circular cutout and iron turn-latch.

The teak has developed a deep, warm patina consistent with more than sixty years of academic use. Offered as found. Lightly cleaned and unrestored.
