Performance Velvet

Velvet has spent most of its history being protected, kept for the formal room and the chair nobody used. Performance Velvet puts that luxurious texture into daily service, a velvet you can live with instead of around. These performance velvet upholstery fabrics are liquid- and stain-resistant and clean with soap and water, tested to withstand 100,000 double rubs.

Marseille was known for hand-corded quilting in the early eighteenth century, prized enough that England taxed the imports. By the 1740s an English loom was making the same raised pattern, and the cloth sold as Marseilles cloth.
Performance Matelassé is made the same way. Two cloths woven at once, bound only where the pattern calls for it, so the rest lifts into pockets with nothing inside them. Matelassé is French for padded, and the loom does the padding. Soft and velvety, 100% polyester, spill- and stain-resistant, tested to withstand 100,000 double rubs.
